The Music & Publications department is responsible for the development, management, and publication of all print and digital performance material for Concord Theatricals.

Responsibilities

Position Purpose: Responsible for the publication of new and revised acting editions and supplemental products for Concord Theatricals—managing the care of 10,000 plays and musicals across the US and UK offices. Develop and manage administrative tasks related to print and digital publications. Manages Publications Associate and Publications Coordinator. Works under moderate supervision of Vice President of Music & Publications.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Proof, edit, and prepare new and revised published scripts, eBooks, and supplemental products for publication and distribution.
  • Manage publication metadata and title set-up with printers, distributors, and on Concord Theatricals’ website.  
  • Manage proofing and publication schedule for new titles and implement tracking in system of reference. Assign titles to publications staff and freelance proofreaders for editing and proofing.  
  • Gather publication material from authors and manage typesetting schedule with typesetters.
  • Manage catalog reprint schedule. 
  • Develop and manage Concord Theatricals’ re-branding schedule. Manage and track publication stock with outsourced printers.
  • Manage questions and concerns from authors and customers that are related to publications. Liaise with department coworkers and licensing staff to develop licensing-related solutions.
  • Performs all duties inherent in a managerial role. Ensures effective staff training, evaluates staff performance, provides input for the development of the department budget, and hires, promotes, and terminates staff and recommends salary actions as appropriate.

Qualifications

What you’ll need:

  • Minimum of 5 years of editorial or publications experience with a trade publisher, theatrical licensing company, or within a comparable industry.
  • Including a minimum of 2 years of experience managing relationships with book distributors and/or printers and 1 year of managing support staff.
  • Exceptional editing skills.
  • Proven experience working in a team and juggling multiple editorial projects.
  • Highly skilled in Adobe InDesign (understanding of GREP preferred).
  • Skilled in Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Excel, and book and cover layout.
  • Self-motivated to be able to work remotely when needed.
  • Enjoy working as part of a team and willing to support other team members when help is needed.
  • Knowledge of theatre professionals, including established and emerging playwrights and composers.

Preferred skills:

  • Experience with Salesforce.
  • Fluency in Spanish.
  • Music literacy and experience with proofing scripts against vocal scores.

 

Salary Range: $58,000 - 70,000

 

*This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days minimum on-site.
