Concord Music Publishing is a global, full-service, independent music publisher offering bespoke creative support from its A&R, Synchronization and Marketing teams and diligent administration by its in-house Copyright, Licensing, Income Tracking and Royalty departments.

Responsibilities

Position Purpose:

Responsible for helping to ensure all released songs are properly registered with MROs, issue mechanical licenses in accordance with the writer and artist agreements, and confirm all mechanical income is collected in a timely manner. In this role, you will help support the resolution of any share disputes with co-publishers. Assist with permission requests on an ad hoc basis. Works under moderate supervision.

What you'll do:

  • Review internal release schedules to identify all new releases
  • Interface with A&R department to procure song share details, if needed.
  • Interface with A&R and Business Affairs for documentation needed to confirm mechanical license rates
  • Support review and extraction of relevant information (rate, payment, etc.) from controlled rate/artist agreements to properly draft mechanical licenses
  • Communicate with clients to track and gain information for required reduced rate approvals
  • Communicate our details to the labels and issue a direct mechanical license
  • Work within The Harry Fox Agency portal to review and confirm license requests
  • Help resolve split disputes with co-publishers directly, and perfect claims at MROs
  • Follow up with labels to ensure licenses are executed and returned promptly.
  • Conduct song research using PRO/MRO websites/portals, agreements/schedules, etc.
  • Follow up with Digital Service Providers to ensure accuracy of our claims
  • Process all Notice of Intention documents
  • Provide label copy
  • Handle approval process for derivative works
  • Research in a timely manner rights queries and information request from Business Affairs, Licensing, sub-publishers, writers, and clients
  • Various projects as assigned

Qualifications

What you need :

  • Minimum 1 year or some combination of internship experience working for a music publishing company
  • Some knowledge of general copyright administration, preferred 
  • Excellent Excel skills and experience working with large data sets
  • Strong mathematical skills 
  • Positive, flexible attitude and personality
  • Excellent communication skills: online, phone, and in-person
  • Capable of working independently and with several colleagues in different teams, in different locations
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions relating to client contact and approvals

 

*This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days minimum on-site.
